Privacy Policy (GDPR)
1. Controller
Synthovion GmbH, Im Mediapark 5, 50670 Köln, Germany, represented by Dr. Mustafa Sindi. Contact: info@synthovion.com, phone +49 151 640 630 45.
2. Data we process and why
- Account: email address, sign-in provider (Google, Microsoft, Apple), sign-in times — to provide your account (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Research content: your questions, campaigns, uploaded files and computation results — to deliver the service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). They are not used to train AI models.
- Billing: credit consumption and payment transactions — for contract performance and statutory retention duties (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR).
- Technical logs: for security and troubleshooting (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
3. Recipients and processors
- Hosting, database and sign-in: Lovable Cloud (Lovable Labs Incorporated) and its infrastructure providers.
- Compute servers for scientific calculations: DigitalOcean, LLC.
- Language AI: models with contractually agreed zero data retention, via the Lovable AI gateway.
- Public scientific databases (e.g. Europe PMC, STRING, UniProt, ChEMBL) receive only scientific search terms, never personal account data.
- Payment processing: Paddle.com (Paddle Payments Limited / Paddle.com Inc.) acts as Merchant of Record for purchases and processes payment, billing, tax compliance and invoicing data.
For transfers to third countries (in particular the USA) we rely on adequacy decisions (EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 44 et seq. GDPR).
4. Retention
We store account data and research content until you delete your account. Billing records are retained for up to 10 years under § 147 AO and § 257 HGB.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use only technically necessary local storage for your sign-in session and for remembering your privacy choice (§ 25(2) TDDDG). On your first visit we ask for your consent in a banner; you can choose “Only necessary” without any disadvantage. During checkout, our payment provider Paddle may set its own cookies — these are only activated with your consent (“Accept all”). There is no tracking and no advertising.
6. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR), and the right to withdraw consent at any time.
You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, e.g. the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.
Terms & Conditions
1. Parties and acceptance
These terms govern the use of the Synthovion research platform, provided by Synthovion GmbH, Im Mediapark 5, 50670 Köln, Germany ("Synthovion", "we"). By creating an account or continuing to use the service, you agree to these terms. If you use the service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organisation.
2. The service
Synthovion is a scientific research workspace that computes evidence-based analyses, predictions and hypotheses for drug discovery. Computed results are research aids only: they are not medical advice and do not replace experimental or clinical validation. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
3. Account and credentials
You must provide accurate information, keep it up to date, and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
4. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the service. In particular, you must not: use it unlawfully; commit fraud or send spam; infringe intellectual property rights; interfere with security (including malware, probing, or scraping); reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the service; or circumvent technical limits. You are responsible for the questions, data and files you submit, for having the rights to that input, and for how you use the outputs — including verifying their accuracy before any decision. Outputs may be inaccurate and are not suitable as regulated professional advice without qualified oversight.
5. Intellectual property
We retain all ownership of the service and its intellectual property (software, documentation, branding). We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your selected plan. You grant us a limited licence to host and process your content solely to provide the service. Rights-holder complaints may be sent to info@synthovion.com; we may remove or restrict infringing content and suspend accounts of repeat infringers.
6. Payment, billing and subscriptions
Paid features (credit packs, subscriptions) are billed through our payment provider. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms (https://www.paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms) in addition to these terms. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time, with access continuing until the end of the paid period.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. When your account ends, your research content is deleted after a reasonable export window unless statutory retention duties apply.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties. Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages (including loss of profits, data or goodwill). Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury, or other liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Indemnity
You indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the service, or your violation of these terms.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by German law. The place of jurisdiction is Cologne, Germany, where legally permissible. We may assign this contract in connection with a merger or acquisition; you may not assign it without our consent. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
